Manufacturing Management System for SAMEX

Custom Software
Case study

One system for quoting, purchasing, production, and warehouse - built for a manufacturer whose product complexity had outgrown its tools

SAMEX manufactures cutting room equipment - machines built to order, in configurations that vary from customer to customer and sells them to 65 countries across 6 continents. As order volume and product complexity grew, the tools holding the operation together stopped keeping up.

We built them a single platform covering the full order lifecycle: product configuration, purchasing, sales, production planning, and warehouse. It was the first system delivered end-to-end on Solarte Engine, our AI-powered platform - in production since Q4 2024, with zero downtime since. The results are below; so is how it was delivered.

Custom Software for Manufactures

Client Company Background

History & Evolution

Founded in 1988, SAMEX started as a cutting machine service provider and grew into Poland's leading manufacturer of cutting room equipment. Over 35 years, more than 6,000 companies worldwide have bought their machines.

Product Portfolio

SAMEX builds cutting machines, roller blind cutting tables, fabric spreading tables, rewinding machines, and specialized cutting systems - plus the round and vertical knives that go with them. Most products are configurable: the same machine ships in many variants, each with its own parts list.

The Challenge

Nobody plans their way into this situation - companies grow into it. Orders multiplied, configurations multiplied faster, and the tools that had once been enough - spreadsheets, paper product specifications, knowledge passed person to person - became the bottleneck. Every workaround made sense when it was created. Together, they meant:

Data Silos

Each department kept its own records - the same question got different answers depending on who you asked

No Universal Product Configuration

The exact parts list for each machine variant lived in experience and paper specifications

Deliveries and Reservations Managed by Memory

Expected deliveries and reservations for future runs had no system of record - so stoppages arrived without warning

Slow, Manual Order Creation

Every new production order meant re-entering information that already existed somewhere else

No Live View of the Warehouse

Stock counts showed what was in the building - not what was committed, awaited, or free to use

Assessment & Requirements

Zoom

Unified Management Tool

One tool for warehouse, purchasing, sales, and production - the same data, the same answers, for every department.

Clear product definition

Clear Product Definitions

A product defined once, with all parts required for its production in any configuration - so the right parts list follows automatically from the chosen variant.

Comprehensive Inventory Insight

End-to-end visibility of the component lifecycle: from parts on order with suppliers, through stock on the shelf, to items reserved for specific production runs.

End-to-End Process Tracking

The entire order lifecycle in one place - from the initial client quote, through every production step, to final delivery.

Solution Implemented

One integrated platform, four core modules - each built around how SAMEX actually works, not a template:

Product Configurator

Every product defined once, with the parts required for any valid configuration. Choose the variant, and the system produces the exact parts list - product knowledge encoded into the tool, not carried in heads and paper

Unified Purchase & Sales

One hub for creating and managing all orders - client orders and supplier orders in the same system, so the path from client request to production start no longer crosses departmental borders

Integrated Production

A real-time view of the entire production schedule, tied directly to component reservations - a build can only be scheduled against parts that are genuinely available

Warehouse with inventory

What's in stock, what's reserved, what's on the way visible on a timeline, with expected deliveries tracked so shortages surface while there's still a cheap way to fix them

How It Was Delivered

This was the first system built end-to-end on Solarte Engine, our internal AI-powered platform - and the project that proved what it could do.

The architecture and specification were defined by a senior architect; the Engine generated the implementation. Backend work we would have estimated at roughly 100 developer-days from a traditional team was generated in a day - and every change since has been just as disproportionate: requests that would normally queue for a sprint land in days.

The system went to production in Q4 2024 and has run with zero downtime since.

Results & Benefits

30%

Fewer Production
Delays

Downtime caused by missing parts dropped by nearly a third - because reservations and expected deliveries are visible before a build starts, not discovered after

40%

Enhanced Visibility & Control

Every component's status - in stock, on order, or reserved - in one view. The question "can we build this now?" went from an investigation to a glance

50%

Accelerated Processes

Recording documents and key process steps, from order creation to production sign-off, takes half the time it used to - the same work, without the re-entering
